Our patient care is founded on professional, detailed screenings and examinations that allow us to monitor the oral health of our patients from a variety of standpoints. These services allow us to offer a level of quality you can trust. We want every patient to relax, knowing they are in good hands when they choose Dr. Angelopulos to care for their oral health needs.
Some of the preventive and general dentistry procedures we provide include:
Comprehensive Dental Exams
You’ve probably never experienced an exam as thorough as one of Dr. Angelopulos’s new patient exams. New patient appointments are one of the most important visits that our patients make with us, so we take plenty of time to thoroughly screen your oral health and establish a baseline from which to measure future examinations.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Oral cancer is a silent killer that often goes undiagnosed until the disease has progressed to more advanced stages. Thankfully, we can identify precancerous tissues during our detailed oral cancer screening process, which ensures a better outcome for treatment in patients diagnosed with the disease. Not only do we perform traditional visual screenings, we also offer advanced Velscope cancer screening to identify areas of precancerous tissue before they are visible to the naked eye.
Digital and Panoramic X-Rays
HD digital x-rays allow us to enlarge images for better diagnosis and communication with our patients. You’ll love that the images are instantly visible on screen in our treatment studios, giving you and Dr. Angelopulos instant information when you need it the most. Not only do digital x-rays use less radiation, they are faster and more comfortable. The lower radiation means our dental team can stay in the room with you as your x-rays are taken for your comfort and ease.
These x-rays can also be sent electronically if needed, and are very easy to compare to previous x-rays, allowing us to follow the progression of dental conditions.
Detecting cavities earlier means patients enjoy less-invasive treatment options that are also more affordable. When we detect cavities at the earliest stage, we can fill them with less trauma to the tooth. Untreated cavities may lead to abscess and eventually tooth loss. We utilize the Diagnodent laser, which is an FDA-approved detection device that allows us to check the density of your tooth enamel. This way, we can see cavities before they are clinically diagnosable or visible on X-rays.
We love for our patients to be able to have a first-hand look at their teeth and specific needs. With our intraoral cameras, they can! The intraoral camera is situated at the end of a wand, about the size of a pen. While he’s discussing your treatment needs, Dr. Ange captures a high definition image and displays it on our in-room monitor so that you can clearly see what he’s talking about. We keep a record of all intraoral images to create a baseline for comparison over time.
Dental Hygiene Services
Regular, preventive cleanings help keep your mouth free of tartar deposits and gum disease-causing bacteria. We use gentle, ultrasonic scalers to make cleanings more efficient and comfortable than traditional dental cleanings. No matter what the condition of your teeth, perfect or otherwise, an individualized preventative care plan will help your teeth last a lifetime.
Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, is a major cause of tooth loss. Our periodontal care plan involves deep cleanings and Arestin medication delivery to help control the disease and bone loss in severely infected areas. Symptoms of gum disease may include bad breath, loose teeth, bleeding, swollen gums, or heavy tartar buildup. Many times however, it can remain silent with no obvious symptoms to alert the patient.
Fluoride Dental Treatment
We offer a professional strength fluoride application to our patients after each preventive cleaning. After cleanings, teeth are able to absorb a higher level of the mineral, which makes teeth stronger and better able to fight off decay and infection. If you have a frequent history of cavities or simply battle chronic tooth sensitivity, fluoride treatments are extremely beneficial.
Protecting your teeth from damage before it occurs is something we take seriously! Most damaged or broken teeth come from sports injuries and nighttime grinding (bruxism). We offer remedies for both in the form of custom-fit sports mouthguards, and nightguards for prevention. Professionally made guards are absolutely comfortable and will stay in place, plus they provide better protection. Studies show store-bought mouthguards can do more harm than good.
Emergency Dental Care
Emergencies are bound to happen – that’s why Dr. Angelopulos is always ready to help. Whether you’re a new or existing patient, we invite you to call us as soon as your emergency occurs so we can have a place ready for you when you arrive at our office.
